Terms of Use
Please read them. By creating a Plov account or using Plov you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. Restaurants that work with Plov sign a separate agreement.
1. Who we are
Plov is provided by Ingia Technologies Limited, Lagos, Nigeria ("Plov", "we", "us"). You can reach us at info@ingia.net or on +234 708 948 6368.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to make a binding contract.
- You sign in with a mobile number we verify with a code, and you may also use an email address, Apple or Google. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your phone, codes and sign-in methods to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- One person, one account. Do not create accounts to get rewards more than once.
3. Plov credit
- Adding credit. You add funds by bank transfer or card, through our payments partner. Every ₦1 you add is ₦1 of Plov credit. We do not charge a fee to add credit, though your bank or card provider might charge you.
- It does not expire. Your credit does not expire while your account is open.
- What credit is. Credit is a prepayment for meals at partner restaurants. It is not a bank account or a deposit, it earns no interest, and it is not a way to send money to other people except by gift (section 6).
- Where it can be used. At restaurants that accept Plov. A restaurant can stop accepting Plov at any time.
- Getting unused credit back. If you close your account, you can ask us to return your unused credit to a bank account in your name, after we verify it. We may hold credit we are legally required to hold, for example during a fraud or money-laundering investigation. We may also reverse credit you added by mistake or by a payment that is later reversed.
4. Paying at a restaurant
- You scan the code on your table to open your bill, and choose how to pay. The restaurant receives the full bill at menu price. The discount you earn comes off the credit you spend.
- Check the bill before you pay. Once a payment is confirmed it is final, except where we find an error, a duplicate or an unauthorised payment, in which case we will correct it.
- The restaurant, not Plov, is responsible for the food, service, prices and the accuracy of your bill. If you have a complaint about a meal, take it to the restaurant. If your payment went wrong, tell us.
- If your phone has no data, a staff member can enter a pay code you read out to them. Only read your code to staff at the restaurant where you are paying.
5. Rewards, boosts and referrals
- Your discount. It starts at 5% and depends on how much you spent with Plov in the previous quarter (at the moment 8% at a middle level and 10% at the top level). A restaurant may add a boost on top for set days or bills.
- Referrals. When a friend you invited pays a first bill of at least ₦5,000, you and your friend each get ₦2,500 of credit. Limits apply to how many friends can earn you a reward each quarter, and to how long after joining a friend can enter your code.
- We can change tiers, boosts and referral amounts for the future, and we will show the current ones in the app. Rewards have no cash value and are not given for self-referrals, fake accounts or other abuse. We may cancel rewards earned that way.
6. Gifts
- You can gift Plov credit to a mobile number with an optional note. If the number already has a Plov account, the credit is added to it. If not, we hold the credit and text the number an invitation. If it is not claimed within 14 days, it returns to your credit.
- The sender and the recipient each see the other's phone number. Make sure the number is right: once a recipient has claimed a gift, we cannot take it back.
- Notes must follow section 7. We may remove a gift or a note that breaks it.
7. Using Plov properly
You agree not to: break the law or use Plov for fraud, money laundering or to fund anything illegal; give false information or use someone else's account; try to get around limits, security or the way rewards work; interfere with or reverse-engineer the app or the service; harass others or send abusive, unlawful or misleading notes; or use automated tools to access Plov without our permission.
8. Restaurants and funding quotes
A restaurant's relationship with Plov, including any funding, is set out in a separate written agreement. The figures on this website's For restaurants page are illustrations. A funding quote request is not an offer, and any quote is indicative until we have reviewed the restaurant's records and both sides sign. Plov's funding is not a loan.
9. Your data
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, including how to ask for access, correction or deletion.
10. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Plov available but cannot promise it will always work without interruption. We may change or stop features. We may update these terms; we will tell you in the app or by message before a change that matters to you takes effect, and if you keep using Plov after that date you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can close your account.
11. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Nigerian consumer protection law, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or our negligence, but not for indirect or unforeseeable losses, or for losses caused by a restaurant, your bank or card provider, your phone network, or events outside our reasonable control.
12. Closing or suspending an account
You can close your account at any time by writing to info@ingia.net (section 3 explains what happens to unused credit). We may suspend or close an account, with notice where we can, if you break these terms, if we suspect fraud or misuse, or if the law requires. We will explain why unless the law stops us.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Please contact us first at info@ingia.net so we can try to resolve a complaint. If we cannot, the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction, without taking away any right you have to go to the courts of the place where you live or to a regulator.
